Great 50 Days Offering

In the Wyoming Conference, the period between Easter Sunday and Pentecost Sunday has become a great time of mission giving. It is through this offering that the mission projects of the Haiti Partnership are funded.

In 2008, about $37,000 was raised for the Great Fifty Day Offering. In 2009, our goals:

  • $12,000 towards paying the school director and eight teachers for the coming year at the Hermitage School
  • $14,000 to fund projects that will be done by our six missions teams going to Haiti from November 2009 through March 2010
  • $5,000 to complete the clean water project for the village of Hermitage in cooperation with local Rotary Clubs and Pure Water for the World
  • $4,000 to provide ongoing funding for a very successful micro-credit program established in 2005
  • $4,000 to establish a hot lunch program at the school in Hermitage

In 2009, a portion of the funds from the Great Fifty Days Offering will also be used for the work of the Friends of Zimbabwe.

Each church in the conference is encouraged to support the Great Fifty Days Offering. Some churches take up a special offering; others promote it through their Sunday School; others give using a line item in their budget. The pastor or lay member will be asked to bring the offering to Annual Conference in Scranton in a special envelope that is mailed to each church.

Many churches also assemble school bags and/or health kits, and provide scholarships to school children and/or the elderly living at Good Samaritan Home.

Click here for information about school bags and here for information about personal hygiene kits and how churches can participate in these worthwhile programs.
